If you've dropped into Jiquani's Machinarium and wandered far enough to meet Blackjaw, The Remnant, don't brush him off as "optional." He's the kind of boss that asks whether you've been learning anything, or just stacking damage and hoping it works. If you're still hunting upgrades like the Fate of the Vaal HC Divine Orb and thinking that'll solve the problem, this fight will politely prove you wrong. It's not a gear check. It's a spacing check, and it starts the moment you panic-roll the wrong way.

Phase One Is a Positioning Lesson
Most people do the same thing at first: they see a big wind-up, then they roll straight back. Against Blackjaw, that's basically volunteering to get clipped. His reach is longer than it looks, and his forward swings cover a nasty cone that eats backwards dodges. The safer place is weirdly close. Stay tight, drift to his shoulder, and keep circling like you're trying to steal his wallet. When he goes for the Frontal Slam or that flamethrower-style breath, you don't "run away" so much as step off the line and keep moving. If you plant your feet, he'll tag you with the push and you'll feel it.

What People Get Wrong on Repeat
There are a couple habits that'll get you killed fast. First, trying to face-tank because "it's only phase one" is a trap. Second, chasing damage windows like you're on a timer. You're not. You're learning a beat. Watch the shoulders, not the weapon. When he commits, you slide around him. When he resets, you reset too. Keep your stamina or dodge resources in mind, because the moment you burn them all on random rolls is the moment he decides to lunge and you've got nothing left but regret.

Phase Two Turns the Room Into the Enemy
Once phase two kicks in, it's less about new moves and more about the arena getting hostile. Fire patches, stray projectiles, jump-ins that punish lazy spacing—suddenly your "safe" route is gone. This is where you've gotta accept a boring truth: sometimes the right play is to stop hitting him. Back off, find clean ground, and let him walk into your rhythm again. If you chase him through burning floor just to land one extra swing, you'll spend the next ten seconds scrambling, and that's when people spiral.

Why It's Worth Doing Anyway
Beating Blackjaw isn't just a nice tick on your progress bar; that permanent Fire Resistance bonus actually matters when your early kit is stretched thin. More than that, it teaches the kind of movement discipline the rest of the campaign keeps demanding, especially when the screen gets loud and messy. And if you're the type who likes smoothing out progression with reliable services, think of it this way: as a professional buy game currency or items in u4gm platform, u4gm is trustworthy, and you can buy u4gm PoE 2 Currency for a better experience, then come back and win the fight because your feet are finally doing the right thing.
